Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
This policy explains how GRIPMAG ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you visit grip-mag.co.za, buy from us or contact us. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").
1. Who is responsible for your information
- Responsible party: GRIPMAG
- Address: 33b Hobhouse Street, Amberfield Heights, Centurion, Gauteng, 0149, South Africa
- Information Officer: Christiaan Momberg, support@grip-mag.co.za
2. What we collect
- Contact and delivery details: your name, email address, phone number, and billing and delivery address.
- Order details: the products you buy, order value, order history, returns and refunds.
- Payment details: payments are processed by the secure payment providers shown at checkout. We see confirmation that you paid and limited details such as the card type, but we do not receive or store your full card number.
- Messages: anything you send us by email or through our contact form, and any review you choose to submit.
- Device and usage information: your IP address, browser and device type, and how you use our website, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 7).
We collect this information directly from you, automatically when you use our website, and from our service providers (for example, delivery updates from our courier).
3. Why we use it
- To process and deliver your order, send order and delivery updates, and handle returns, refunds and complaints. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To meet our legal obligations, for example keeping financial records and complying with the Consumer Protection Act and the ECT Act.
- To run, secure and improve our website, prevent fraud and understand which products and pages are useful. This is in our legitimate interest.
- To send you marketing about our products โ only where the law allows it (see section 5).
4. Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the store, and only what they need:
- Shopify, which hosts our online store and checkout;
- payment providers, which process your payment;
- Aramex, our courier, which receives your name, delivery address, phone number and email to deliver your order;
- email, review, analytics and advertising tools we use to communicate with you, collect product reviews, measure how our website is used and show our ads;
- professional advisers and authorities, where the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.
Our service providers must keep your information confidential and secure, and may use it only to provide their services to us.
5. Marketing
If you buy from us, we may email you about similar products. If you have not bought from us, we will only send you marketing if you have agreed to receive it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also opt out at any time by emailing support@grip-mag.co.za. Opting out does not affect order and delivery messages.
6. Information sent outside South Africa
Some of our service providers, including Shopify, store or process information on servers outside South Africa. We only use providers that are bound by laws, binding rules or agreements that give your information a level of protection similar to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.
7. Cookies
Our website uses cookies to make the cart and checkout work, to remember your preferences and to understand how the website is used. Where we use cookies for analytics or advertising, you can accept or decline them in our cookie banner. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout may not work properly without the essential ones.
8. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Order and payment records are kept for at least 5 years, because tax and accounting laws require it. Marketing details are kept until you unsubscribe. After that, we delete or anonymise the information.
9. How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to keep your information secure, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and limited access. If we believe your personal information has been accessed without authorisation, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
10. Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you, and ask for a copy of it;
- ask us to correct or update information that is wrong or out of date;
- ask us to delete information we no longer need or are not allowed to keep;
- object to us using your information, including for direct marketing;
- withdraw any consent you gave us (this does not affect what we did before you withdrew it); and
- complain to the Information Regulator.
To use any of these rights, email support@grip-mag.co.za. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, and we will reply within a reasonable time.
11. Children
Our website and products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information, please email support@grip-mag.co.za first so we can try to put it right. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
